When it comes to denim, my chosen winner year after year have been these flattering, truthworthy pair, shown above! I LOVE them! And they’re worth every penny of their splurge worthy price of $128. They hold up beautifully, they’re beyond flattering and they make this mama of 3 feel confident in denim again! With intermittent fasting this year (you can read the beginning of that journey here), and currently down 30lbs from last fall, I knew I needed a new pair of affordable jeans that would help me transition during my healthy lifestyle journey (hoping to combat more of my inflammation and therefore more weight loss this fall). So, I went on the search for the perfect look for less, and what I ended up finding (after trying on over 20 pairs of jeans), was three great affordable denim options! So whether you’re in the search for a new pair of jeans, or looking to expand upon your current wardrobe, this post is for you!
After regularly eyeing the options at Target, I decided it was time to give their jeans a try. I quickly realized, how overwhelming all their options were, and that deciphering all their cuts, washes, and fits, would require a try on session to really see & feel the difference. So I loaded up on all the washes and a plethora of fits: Curvy, Skinny, High Waisted, Vintage, Straight, Cropped, Wide-Legged, and these were the 3 that I found to be the best!
The BEST Madewell Look-a-Like
In looking for a Madewell Look-a-Like, this high rise skinning jean was it! (**currently buy 1 get one half off!) After trying on all the washes, this denim was the softest ~ the key is sticking to this color: Blue online, and color Blue River Fog on the tag. The high rise cut hit in a similar place as my favorite 10” Madewells, and surprisingly pulled in all the places I’m most self-conscience about, while also having just enough stretch to make this jean super comfortable! In trying on the all the Target jeans, I found the “Skinny” fits, to be more flattering than the “Curvy”cuts I tried. The curvy didn’t give me the same flattering results that the skinny pairs did.

The Best Light Wash
In searching for a flattering lighter wash, I was thrilled to find this High Rise Skinny pair! (**currently buy 1 get one half off!) Fitted through the hip & thigh, slim fit leg, this particular fabric (color: Medium Blue) smooths and sculpts, with again, just the right amount of stretch! Truth be told, it’s been years since I’ve felt I could pull off the light denim look, and this jean is just the pair to bring me back to the light side.

The Surprise Winner, The Crop!
This fall, wide-legged, cropped jeans are all the rage! And after trying all the wide legged, cropped, straight, vintage options, I fell in love with these High Rise Straight Cropped Jeans. (**currently buy 1 get one half off!) Hands down the most comfortable of all the jeans I tried, and the most flattering in the category of wide-leg & straight denim! If not careful, wide-leg and cropped can easily make your figure look shorter and wider than you are, and that’s why I chose to stick in the straight leg department when going with a cropped jean. I loved the light distressing and ripped knee, and the fit, seriously so comfortable with a relaxed hip & thigh and heavier fabric than the other denim I tried. These jeans, dare I say, will be my favorite in the Mom Jean category this fall while juggling all that pandemic parenthood and virtual learning at home will bring!
