Easy Brunch Board | French Toast | Family Style

August 22, 2020 Michelle Cannon Smith
Easy Brunch Board, French Toast, Family Style

When it comes to the weekend, there’s nothing I love more than kicking it off with a mid-morning brunch! And this easy french toast brunch board is a family favorite! Days old French Bread is what really makes this recipe, and while pancakes are fun, I personally find this grownup version to be the better of the two! Incredibly quick to make, it’s an easy plate to whip up on the weekends! Served on a large platter (my new favorite being this melamine bamboo “stoneware” one, just $10), family style makes serving easy, and allows everyone to help themselves to exactly what it is they’re after. And speaking of helping themselves. This week my babies started kindergarten?! Kindergarten?! And to make snack breaks, and lunch time while learning virtually from home, easy and fun, I just bought these adorable and practical (they too are plastic) cake stands!! Perfect for displaying and storing food items, I love that P & K can quickly help themselves whenever the teacher designates a brain break. Happy Weekend Friends!

Ingredients

1 Loaf of days old French Bread (fresh works as well)

4-5 Eggs

3/4 -1 cup milk (not gonna lie, I’m not too precious on measuring this, a good generous pour to mix in with the eggs)

Optional, but recommended : Splash of heavy whipping cream, I use buttermilk if out.

Generous sprinkle of Cinnamon

Small sprinkle of Nutmeg (fresh is always best, and grate some if you have it whole)

Butter

Syrup

Fresh Fruit, I like to use what’s in season. We’ve been harvesting our Charentais Melons all week, and after re-discovering melon ballers, I’m obsessed with only eating melons in sphere form, lol!

To Make

Slice French Bread, I prefer medium thickness about 1 inch

In a mixing bowl, whisk together all other ingredients.

Melt butter in a pan on the stove, Medium High Heat

Dunk each slice of french bread into your mixture, place on stove top and flip once side is golden brown and toasted.

Serve with warm syrup and fresh fruit! Enjoy!!
