Garden Rose Bouquets | The Simple Way I assemble The Blooms

May 12, 2020 Michelle Cannon Smith
Garden Rose Bouquet

One of the greatest joys of growing roses, is being able to share the blooms! For a finished, yet simple look, I wrap bouquets in this natural parchment paper, a pantry staple I use in my garden and my kitchen! Tie with pretty ribbon or twine and it’s a simple way to brighten someone’s day! When making homemade bouquets, I remove all the leaves on each rose, de-thorn, tie the bouquet together with twine, typically at the top near the blooms, then place a wet paper towel around the stems and cover with a ziploc bag. This allows the blooms to stay hydrated in transit. For a fragrant and useful addition, I love pairing roses with fragrant herbs, another staple I always growing in my garden. For today’s bouquets, I bundled David Austin Royal Jubilee Roses with Sage & Lavender, both fragrant additions! And for the yellow David Austin Comte de Champagne roses, I paired it with long stems of Oregano! When including herbs to bouquets, I strip about 1/3 of the leaves on the bottom of the stems. This allows them to be placed in water without rotting the bottom leaves. Now these are bouquets that are easy to assemble and perfect for you or to share with a friend!

Hope your week is a good one friends!
